Friday, May 21 – Saloon Grand Opening
Saturday, May 29 – Museum Opens for the Season (Memorial Day Weekend)
Fourth of July Parade – The Historical Society will participate. Date to be announced by the Chamber of Commerce.
Saturday, July 17 – Arbogast Heritage Day
Saturday, August 7 (Tentative) – Timberfest at the Museum, featuring a porch concert by Steve Spracklin from 1:00–3:00 p.m.
Sunday, October 3 (Tentative) – Fall Fest: Pick-Your-Own Pumpkins in front of the museum
Saturday, October 9 – Museum Closed for the Season
Museum Hours: Saturdays, 11:00 a.m.–3:00 p.m., beginning May 29.
Group Tours: Available by appointment.
Introducing Otis!
Meet Otis, the newest mascot of the Lewiston Area Historical Museum! During Lewiston’s booming lumbering days in the early 1900s, Patty Welsh’s Saloon was one of the town’s most notorious gathering places. Located next to the Quebec Hotel on what is now Kneeland Street, the saloon was famous for its lively atmosphere and an unusual resident—a pet otter that lived in the water trough out front and became a beloved village pet. In honor of this unique piece of Lewiston history, a new otter mascot will welcome visitors to the museum’s replica saloon.
His name, Otis, was chosen by popular vote on Lewiston Facebook pages and pays tribute to one of the town’s founding fathers, Otis Kneeland, who owned Lewiston’s meat market and supplied meat to the area’s lumber camps.

The Museum is open on Saturdays during the summer (Memorial Day to October 10th) from 11 am - 3 pm.
